La Vue Winter Breakfast

On Tuesday 20 June at 09:00 to 11:30 our residents and church seniors from Bellville-Uitsig community was invited to a breakfast buffet at La Vue.

The breakfast buffet, catered by Western Province Catering, was a delightful spread of delectable items. The event was a resounding success, with a total of 73 guests in attendance. They relished the sumptuous breakfast offerings while basking in the serene atmosphere of La Vue. The decor was tastefully arranged and the picturesque view added to the overall charm of the morning gathering. We are delighted to have provided such an enjoyable experience for our residents and guests.

At La Récolte we create opportunities for our residents to socialize, laugh and make memories. Retirement at La Récolte sure is fun!

Our Herb Garden

Freddie's herb garden, located at the Clubhouse, is progressing well.

We would like to express our gratitude to Dirk and Elli for their generous donation of herbs. Their contribution has greatly helped in establishing the garden.

We also want to extend our appreciation to Edna for her contribution.

Every donation, big or small, plays a significant role in making this project a success.

Any additional contributions would be more than welcome and greatly appreciated.

Gedig Hoekie- Soos Blare

Amen

Exercise for Seniors You know how important exercise is, as we grow older.

Here are a few suggestions.

I start by standing outside behind the house and, with a 1kg potato sack in each hand, extend my arms straight out to my sides and hold them there as long as I can.

After a few weeks, I moved up to a 2kg potato sacks, then a 5kg potato sacks and finally

I got to where I could lift a 20kg potato sack in each hand and hold my arms straight out for more than a full minute! Next, I started putting a few potatoes in the sacks, but I would caution you not to overdo it at this level.

Retirement with your Pets

South Africans love their pets and consider their furkids to be an important part of their family. Whether you’re a dog, cat or parrot person, pets make for wonderful companions and offer immeasurable physical and mental health benefits.

  • Pets help keep you active.

Taking your dog for daily walks is good for you as you benefit from the fresh air and exercise.

  • Pets combat loneliness and social anxiety.

Owning a pet can improve your social health, they foster a sense of connection and often act as ice breakers in conversation.

  • Pets give you a sense of purpose.

The daily routine of caring for your pet can add structure to your day.

At La Récolte small pets are welcome upon Body Cooperate Approval

With the ample garden space and extensive walking trails inside the Village and in the surrounding neighbourhood, you can rest assured that your pets will enjoy their retirement as much as you will.

The Stress of Moving

The process of moving can be exhausting at any age.

For older adults, however, moving often takes more than just a physical toll.

It can also trigger grief and sadness. This is especially true if the senior will be giving up a home they have lived in for many years and where they raised a family.

As the move draws nearer, stress and anxiety often increase.

How to help a loved one manage relocation stress:
  • Include them in all decisions.

It is easy to fall in to the trap of rushing through the decision without including them.

  • Be Respectful.

What might look like old clutter to you could be an object they have a sentimental attachment to.

  • Keep the Familiar

While it might be tempting to buy all new things, sticking with things that are familiar is important.

  • Plan for Moving Day.

Pack a suitcase that contains your loved one’s medications, toiletries, and other daily necessities.

  • Have a Sense of Humor

Try to be patient with one another and laugh off the small inconveniences!

La Récolte Improvements

At La Recolte the safety and well being of our residents have always been our number one priority, therefore a new speedbump has been installed at Block B.

We would like to thank residents Gielie Du Toit and Ian Hepburn for the installation.

This new feature assures for a safer driving experience for our resident drivers and visitors.
