Block D New Laundry Room

The Block D Laundry Facility marks a significant enhancement to the La Recolte community this year, as the final phase of construction in Block D has been successfully completed. Residents of Block D now have access to a brand-new laundry room, equipped with a washer, dryer, and basins.This state-of-the-art laundry facility operates seamlessly with a card system. Residents can conveniently load money onto their cards, a transaction that can be completed at the clubhouse through Maretha. This eliminates the need for physical currency and makes the laundry process hassle-free. With a simple swipe of the card, residents can effortlessly utilize the washing and drying services, eliminating the need for making change. The introduction of this modern laundry amenity adds to the comfort and convenience of our residents.

Starting an exercise routine from scratch can be both empowering and rewarding.

Here’s a simple guide for our Residents:

  • Explore Options: Visit our gym, sign up for chair exercises at La Vue on Tuesdays or speak to our personal trainer Donovan to help you on you fitness journey.

  • Find a Buddy: Exercise with a friend for motivation and support.

  • Listen to Your Body: Take breaks, stay hydrated, and don’t overexert.

  • Celebrate Progress: Acknowledge and celebrate small victories.

  • Be Consistent: Regularity matters more than intensity.

Here's a concise guide for our residents:

Where did this happen?

  • At La Recolte: Press the panic button in your unit to alert van Biljon Nursing Service.

  • Not at La Recolte: Dial an ambulance and provide clear details about the situation and your location.


What to do next?
  • Keep the person calm and await professional help.

  • Avoid self-transport; let professionals handle it.

  • Do NOT Offer Food or Drinks.

  • Perform CPR if they are Unresponsive.


Swift action and adherence to these steps significantly enhance outcomes.

Familiarize yourself with emergency contacts and basic first aid.

Garden Upgrade at Block A

We're excited to share that the garden at Block A has undergone some wonderful improvements. A big thank you goes out to Ian Hepburn and Maggie Joubert for their hard work and dedication in making this happen.

The garden's upgrade offers a more enjoyable space for everyone.


 

Chefs Corner: Healthy Breakfast Muffins

Ingredients
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour (130 g)

  • ½ cup all purpose flour (65 g)

  • ½ cup oats (45 g)

  • 1 tsp baking powder

  • ½ tsp baking soda

  • ¼ tsp salt

  • 1 tsp cinnamon

  • 1 tbsp ground flax seed

  • 3 tbsp seeds, use your favorite seeds

  • 2 large eggs

  • ½ cup plain non-fat yogurt (120 ml)

  • 4 tbsp coconut oil, melted

  • ¼ cup applesauce (130 g)

  • 2 ripe bananas, mashed

  • 2 tbsp honey

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions
  • Preheat the oven to 180 C.

  • Grease the cups of a standard 12-cup muffin pan

  • In a large bowl, mix together the whole wheat flour, all purpose flour, oats, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, flax seed, and 2 tablespoons of the seeds.

  • Whisk the eggs, and add the yogurt, coconut oil, applesauce, mashed banana, honey, and vanilla extract.

  • Stir well to combine.

  • Pour the wet ingredients onto the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined.

  • Fill the cups of the muffin pan with the mixture. They should be pretty full.

  • Sprinkle the remaining 1 tablespoon of seeds over the muffins.

  • Bake in the oven for 20 minutes and turn out onto a wire rack to cool and enjoy!
