Time for a Revamp
In the last few months there has been many positive changes at
La Récolte, a new clubhouse, new residents at Block C and a frail care. Therefore, it was time to revamp and beautify our entrances and halls. Block A & B entrance halls were furnished with the assistance of Nolene (interior decorator) by using existing furniture from the furnished entrance halls on floors 1 and 3 of both blocks as well as donated furniture, Persian carpets, ornaments and pictures. Thank you to all residents for sharing to beautify all our entrance halls.
We would like to give a special thanks Eugene, Carmen, Elaine, Gielie
and Nolene for assisting with moving furniture between floors.
The end result speaks for itself!
First Social
Thanks to Penny Olivier (A212) for inspiring 14 creative ladies to partake in embroidery, knitting, crocheting and socializing in our fabulous new clubhouse.
This social will be the first of many to come and was a roaring success! We anticipate that this event will take place every 2 weeks on a Wednesday from 2-4 pm. Come join the fun!
Celebrating Heritage Day
On Friday 20 September 2021, Heritage Day was celebrated in true South African style at La Récolte.
This day is dedicated to our culture, diversity and traditions. Hosted by Western Province Catering, the servers dressed for this occasion and our residents were served a variety of vetkoeke.

Health Talk: Osteoporosis
What is the main cause of osteoporosis?
A lifelong lack of calcium plays a role in the development of osteoporosis.
Low calcium intake contributes to diminished bone density, early bone loss and an increased risk of fractures.
Severely restricting food intake and being underweight weakens bone in both men and women.
Osteoporosis can be preventable by making the following adjustments:
Quit smoking.
Limit alcohol consumption.
Maintain a healthy weight.
Eat a well- balanced diet.
What does osteoporosis pain feel like?
Sudden, severe back pain that gets worse when you are standing or walking with some relief when you lie down. Trouble twisting or bending your body, and pain when you do.
Dating After 60
Dating at any age can be complicated. It can be an emotional roller coaster ride of optimism, anticipation, and uncertainty. While some people reach retirement age having been single all their lives, others find themselves newly single as a result of death or divorce. Some are content to remain single for the rest of their lives, surrounded by friends and family members who can provide companionship. But many who find themselves single later in life head back into the dating pool.
Dating is Different Now- If you haven’t dated for decades, you may be surprised by how much the scene has changed. You will find that the qualities you look for in a potential mate at this stage in your life are much different than they were when you were young.
Dress for Success- It’s quite possible that you will meet your next partner when you’re not in dating mode, in other words, when you are just going about your daily life.
It’s Okay to Be Single- You don’t have to date, and you don’t have to have a partner. Often, you’ll have the most success with dating when you truly get comfortable with the notion that you’ll be fine on your own.
