La Vue Clubhouse

It is with great pleasure that we can announce that the name for the new Clubhouse at La Récolte is La Vue (The View). We decided to involve all residents and owners, awarding a prize to the person who’s name for the clubhouse is picked. Hazel O Connell was the winner of the first prize with this very original name. We will design an appropriate theme and signage for La Vue, to be revealed in 2022.

Western Province Catering

We are delighted to inform all owners and tenants that Western Province Catering has passed their Hygiene Audit.

This is a audit to evaluate hygiene levels and Cleanliness. The wellbeing of our tenants has always been our number one priority and it is great to know that they are up to standard with some of the biggest hotels in the industry. We would like to thank the new catering manager Ray for all his hard work.

Gielie and Elbie Du Toit

We would like to know more about the Du Toit's

We have been married for 69 years, we used to live in Klapmuts where Gielie had a carpentry factory for 33 years and was involved in the building industry.

What do you do for fun?

We love to play cards (Canesta) and Elbie loves to read.

Why did you decide to retire at La Récolte?

In 2006 we decide to retire and moved to Welgedacht.

In 2020 we decided to move to La Récolte as it is very central to shops and the Old Oak bowls club (a sport that Gielie loves).

New Year's

Resolutions for 2022

So, for 2022, why not shake things up a bit and try creating resolutions of a different variety?

Give one compliment a day.

You never know—it just might make that person feel a whole lot better.

Go someplace you’ve never been.

Step outside of your comfort zone and do something daring. It’s good for the soul and forces you to learn new things.

Let go of grudges.

Wouldn’t it be nice to start 2022 with a clean slate? Leave hate behind. Anger is so 2021.

Remove negativity or anything that makes you feel lousy. Even things like super sad movies or news sources that just upset you.

Work out to feel good, not be thinner.

Instead of obsessing over the scale, obsess over how amazing you feel since you started being more active. Numbers don’t mean much.

Stay in touch with the people who matter.

Even a quick call, text, or email can make a world of difference.

Balance Problems

Maintaining good balance is important at any age.

When you’re younger, good balance is mostly a matter of keeping your core muscles strong and maybe feeling lucky you didn’t inherit the family gene for clumsiness. But as we age, other factors can creep in.

Weakened muscles or poor vision can compromise our ability to remain steady on our feet, as can some medications. But the natural aging process doesn’t have to mean you’re constantly on the brink of falling. If you or a senior loved one is struggling to remain steady on your feet, the cause might be something other than age.

Balance problems can stem from a specific injury, disorder, or disease.
